RHODE ISLAND — The first real snowfall of the season is headed towards southern New England Wednesday, bringing about an inch of accumulation to Rhode Island.

While the storm is expected to be widespread across the region, snowfall amounts are expected to remain low, with nowhere seeing more than two inches. Most of Rhode Island should see about an inch, though lesser amounts are likely towards the southern coast and in the East Bay.

The National Weather Service predicted much of the snowfall to come during the evening commute, which could make for dangerous conditions for drivers.
