The Newport Walk is on Sept. 18 with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. The annual Providence walk is Roger Williams Park in Providence. Both walks step off at 10 a.m.

This year, the Newport walk has a special guest: Steve Schwalbach of Fort Thomas, KY.

Schwalbach has averaged a full marathon a day for an entire week for the past three years in honor of his mother, Jackie, crossing entire states along the way. This year, he hopes to run 45 miles across Rhode Island over two days.

The event, known as One Day/One State, will be on Saturday, Sept. 17 and it's likely he'll have no problem. He's already run across Kentucky, Ohio and Florida, though each state took more than one day.
