Woman Charged in Alleged Knife Assault at Festival Field
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Keisha T. Edwards, 27, of 82 Warner St., Newport, was arrested around 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17, for felony assault with a dangerous weapon and three simple assault charges.
According to police reports, the victim said Edwards and another woman attacked him with a knife. He declined medical attention.
The victim told police he had asked a group of women in the common hallway of Festival Field to borrow a CD. He said they became agitated, so he left. They then came to his apartment, knocked on his door and were looking for a fight, he said.

Reports said the group then tried to push open the door, which hit the victim, his girlfriend, and her six-year-old daughter.
Edwards reportedly slashed a knife at the victim, cutting his torso twice. Another unidentified woman allegedly stabbed him in the torso, causing a puncture wound.

Police were did not locate a knife on Edwards or in the area.
