Gun Owners Plan Truck Convoy & Rally For 2nd Amendment Rights

RI Gun Shops & RI Gun Owners posted two events on a Facebook page Tuesday. At 3 p.m., a truck convoy is planned and a rally is for 3 to 7.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—The House Judiciary Committee will vote Tuesday on two bills connected to gun safety and Second Amendment rights. Before it does, the RI Gun Shops & RI Gun Owners plan to make its views known. The group posted two events on its Facebook page for Tuesday at the Statehouse. At 3 p.m., a truck convoy is planned, and a rally is also planned for 3 to 7 p.m.

Scheduled for votes are:

· 2018-H 7688 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Dennis M. Canario (D-Dist. 71, Portsmouth, Little Compton, Tiverton), called the “red flag” bill, would create extreme risk protection orders so courts could disarm people whose behavior is believed by authorities to pose a serious threat to others or themselves.

· 2018-H 7075 — Sponsored by Rep. Robert E. Craven (D-Dist. 32, North Kingstown), this bill would make possession or use of a semi-automatic weapon rapid fire device —including a bump stock, binary trigger or trigger crank — punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.
