North Kingstown Man Indicted: Police Allege He Molested Two Boys

Matthew Johnson, 22, is accused of molesting two boys. Their ages were given as 14 or younger.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—The Washington County Grand Jury last Friday (April 13) returned a secret indictment against a North Kingstown man. According to the state Attorney General's office, Matthew Johnson, 22, is being charged with first degree child molestation (4 counts). He's accused of molesting two boys "multiple times." The abuse went on for over a year, according to court papers, and happened between March 1, 2016 and Nov. 17, 2017. The boys' exact ages were not specified, but they are described as 14 or under.

North Kingstown police investigated the case and obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson. He was arraigned Wednesday in Superior Court, released on $25,000 surety bail, ordered not to have contact with the victims; and not to have contact with any minors without supervision. He is due back in court June 20.
