On Saturday …

Save the Bay to use NKHS parking lot: If you see a lot of cars parked at NKHS and you’re wondering what’s going on, Save the Bay is using the lot this year as a meeting place for both swimmers and spectators looking to get to Jamestown for the annual Save the Bay swim. The race starts just after 10 a.m., so shuttle busses will be running people to and from Jamestown all morning and into the early afternoon.

Willett Free Library’s Book, Art & Bake Sale: The Willett Free Library is holding it’s 47th Annual Book, Bake and Art Sale today starting at 9 a.m.  Post Office Park, opposite 20 Ferry Road at the intersection of Boston Neck Road in Saunderstown. Come support Willett Free Library and find a treat or treasure.

NKHS Class of '93 Reunion: It’s taking place today and tomorrow. On Saturday, we will be getting together at Pelly's 19th Hole for a casual but fun evening of reconnecting, remembering and renewing friendships and our "Skipper" pride. If you are interested, we have reserved tee times at 4 p.m. to play golf beforehand. On Sunday, there is a family-fun picnic day for families to get together and meet the families. Spread the word and help us find all of our classmates. Any contact information can be sent to our email address.

Shrek The Musical: Rhode Island Youth Theater invites you to come see Shrek The Musical, complete with a custom built, larger-than-life dragon, a live orchestra, and a talented cast of local kids. Shows are at 7 p.m. at North Kingstown High School (air-conditioned!) tonight and Saturday. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $12 and $14 through PayPal or at the door. Circus Smirkus: Circus Smirkus presents "Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” a new spin on the Wizard of Oz. The Smirkus Troupers are ages 10 to 18 and they perform around New England during the summer. They will be at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Richmond. Tickets available at smirkus.org. There are two shows today, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Free Skating at Boss Arena: URI’s Boss Ice Arena is offering a family-friendly option for cooling down this week during the above-average temperatures and humidity in R.I. Complimentary skate admission to community members wishing to get out of the heat this week will be offered today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Skate rentals are available for $5.

Rhode Island Rednecks @ EG’s Legion Hall: Stop by the American Legion on Main Street in East Greenwich for an evening of country music with the Rhode Island Rednecks. Music starts at 6:30 p.m.

On Sunday …

Ice Cream Social: Join Friends of Homeless Animals and Yawgoo Valley for an afternoon of good old-fashioned summertime fun – ice cream and waterslides! For a $5 donation, you will get to pick your ice cream sundae combo off of our pawlicious sundae menu. With the purchase of each sundae – you will automatically receive $5 off a one-hour pass to the water park. If you love dogs, ice cream and water slides, this is for you! Wood-Pawcatuck/Tomaquag Kayak Tour: Narragansett Indians utilized the rivers for many of their daily needs. On this unique trip, you will start at the Tomaquag Museum in Exeter to learn about traditional uses of the river and examine many of the unique and beautiful museum pieces. Then you will head to the WPWA campus for a paddle up the Wood River to look for plants and animals the Native people may have used. Co-sponsored by the Tomaquag Museum and WPWA.
