'Empanada Fest' To Cap Pawtucket-Central Falls Restaurant Weeks

Members of the public will act as judges as 10 Latin American restaurants put their best savory pastries forward.

PAWTUCKET, RI — People who love to dine out will want to visit Pawtucket and Central Falls during a three-week period at the end of the summer, when restaurants in the two cities will be offering special deals and promotions.

The Pawtucket-Central Falls Restaurant Weeks celebration is set for August 27 to September 19.

The two cities are home to dozens of restaurants featuring Latin American, Caribbean, and Portuguese cuisine as well as Italian, Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, and American pub fare. Food trucks, breweries and distilleries will also participate.

The celebration will culminate with a September 18 "Empanada Fest" in Slater Park where 10 Latin American restaurants will put their best savory pastries forward and let members of the public be the judge. It costs $10 to participate, and the field is limited to 200 people, so those eager to sample and judge empanadas should sign up on line ahead of time.

The Empanada Fest is part of the Pawtucket Arts Festival, which runs from September 10-19.
