Here are the top three stories today in Pawtucket:

  1. A local man was hospitalized Friday night after being stabbed by his stepdaughter, according to Pawtucket police. Authorities report the 18-year-old woman grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her stepfather as he tried to disarm her. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries; the woman was arrested on the scene for several domestic offenses. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
  2. The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) reports that the Royal Ice Cream Company, Inc. has expanded its recent product recall due to possible Listeria contamination. Affected products were distributed in retail stores across Rhode Island and other states under several brand names, including Royal Ice Cream Brand, Newport Creamy, and Biggy Iggy's Ice Cream Sandwiches. Though health officials stated there have been no reports of illness related to these products, anyone who has purchased these products is advised to return or dispose of them. (WPRI.com)
  3. Puppy love was in the air Friday night as dozens of animal lovers gathered at The Guild Pawtucket for a "doggy speed dating" event. The Valentine's celebration brought together potential adopters and adoptable dogs from Save One Soul Animal Rescue League. According to the local nonprofit, "nights like tonight are great to get some puppy kisses, meet new friends, and raise money for a great cause." (ABC 6 News)
