1. The Pawtucket Planning Commission has approved — with conditions — a key initial phase of the mega-development known as Tidewater Landing. Tuesday night, Fortuitous Partners
gained preliminary plan approval for an 11,000-seat multi-use stadium, a public plaza and walkway along the Seekonk River, and an interim parking strategy. The developers hope to break ground this fall.

2. Rhode Island high schoolers will be required to learn civics under new legislation signed by Gov. Dan McKee. Starting with the class of 2023, students will be required to have an understanding of the principles of democracy, how government works and the rights and duties of engaged citizens. (Patch)

3. The City of Pawtucket has awarded a new round of arts grants. Eleven local artists and arts organizations won funding to produce free or low-cost arts programming to serve a diverse community. Other arts organizations gained support for operating expenses.(Pawtucket Patch)

4. Rhode Island was placed under an air quality alert on Tuesday due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. While conditions were expected to improve Wednesday, the effects are expected to linger. (Patch)

5. Goodbye, Zoom. Gov. Dan McKee's executive order allowing public bodies to meet remotely ends on Friday. Moving forward, public bodies may choose to livestream their meetings, but there is no requirement under the law that they do so. (WPRI)
