PORTSMOUTH, RI — Four Rhode Island beaches have closed for swimming because of high bacteria counts in the water.
The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommended the closure of Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth, Warren Town Beach in Warren, Hope Community Service Pond in Scituate, and Briar Point Beach in Coventry.
RIDOH officials said they will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout summer.
