Bacteria Alert: 11 Beach RI Beaches Reopen To Swimming, Another Closes
Most of the beaches that reopened were part of a swath of 13 beaches that closed because of high bacteria levels on Tuesday.
RHODE ISLAND — Bacteria levels returned to normal at 11 Rhode Island beaches and reopened for swimming, while another beach has closed to swimming, the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) said Thursday.
Most of the beaches that reopened were part of a swath of 13 beaches that closed because of high bacteria levels on Tuesday. The beaches that reopened to swimming are:
- Lincoln Woods, Lincoln
- City Park Beach, Warwick
- Conimicut Beach, Warwick
- Oakland Beach, Warwick
- Third Beach, Middletown
- Peabody’s Beach, Middletown
- Sandy Point Beach, Portsmouth
- Warren Town Beach, Warren
- Camp Ruggles, Chepachet
- Marion Irons, Glocester
- Camp Watchaug, Charlestown.
As for closures, Kingston's Camp in South Kingstown closed for swimming, RIDOH officials said.

RIDOH officials said they will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout summer.
