Newport Naval Bomb Unit Responds After Boston Explosions
A Navy bomb unit has been sent to Boston to assist after explosions went off at the Boston Marathon finish line.

A Naval Station Newport bomb unit was sent to Boston Monday to assist after two explosions went off at the Boston Marathon's finish line, reports The Associated Press.Â
The Naval unit, which includes three members of a bomb-detection team, are assisting in the investigation and checking bags.Â
Police say three are dead and at least are 140 injured in the Boston blasts. One Newport woman is among the injured.Â

During the incident, former Newport resident Meshelle Chabot texted Patch, "There is a second bomb right in front of us, waiting on the bomb squad. Not leaving, if they are terrorists and they are still around, they will be shooting."Â
