Rep. Reilly Named 'Friend of Small Business'

The following is from a press release submitted by Rep. Dan Reilly. 

Rep. Daniel P. Reilly (R-Portsmouth, Middletown) this week was named a “Friend of Small Business” by the National Federation of Independent Business for the 2011-2012 legislative session.

The Federation cited Rep. Reilly’s work on pension reform as well as successful legislation requiring cost benefit analysis of current and future government regulations for their support. Additionally, Reilly’s opposition to the sales tax expansion to small businesses is “greatly appreciated by Main Street business owners and the tens of thousands of people who work in Rhode Island small businesses,” according to the federation.

“I am greatly honored to receive this designation by a very important group. For too long Rhode Island government has turned its back on small businesses and we desperately need to keep reforming the way the state does business so we can help small businesses thrive,” Rep. Reilly said.

“There is much work that remains to be done, however. Repeal or reduction of taxes that place our state in an uncompetitive position economically and fighting against financially disastrous bridge tolls remain my priorities going forward. We will never be successful until we become more attractive to businesses than at least our neighboring states.”

The National Federation of Independent Business is the “nation’s leading small business association” which gives small and independent business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business.
