TELL US: What Grade Would You Give the West Main Road Project?
The state's contractor is installing new sidewalks on West Main Road this year. Under construction for a few months now, what grade would you give for this work?

Â
You've probably seen the orange cones, barrels and workers lining West Main Road in the past few months.
You might have also experienced traffic delays during the morning and evening commute when West Main Road, a state road, has been reduced to one lane.Â

The traffic restrictions are part of a $3.8 million resurfacing project with D'Ambra Construction, who is replacing sidewalks, working on the signals at several intersections and repairing some drainage structures.
The work is scheduled to be completed in the fall.

With construction now several months since its start, we want to know what you think so far.Â
I asked, on Portsmouth Patch's Facebook page Monday, what grade you would give this work. This includes your experience as a commuter on West Main Road.Â
Here's what a few users had to say:Â
Jeanean Leung:Â F because we don't need sidewalks in portsmouth we need new roads, I just replaced my tires and shocks and tire rod because these roads are horrible, does the state want to give me $2,500. for these repairs?
Misty N. Coy:Â The roads here are the worst. Its pot hole after pot hole. They really need to fix them.
Leslie Costic:Â I wish they'd do it at night, like they did the installation of the new guardrails on Rt.24
Ben Dinsmore:Â Not enough foot traffic to be worth it. On the other hand I've walked and biked west main plenty, I was out at clock tower sq today. It can be intense walking on that roadway,or even in the grassy/muddy shoulder.
Kristin Benson Pierini:Â Why are we installing sidewalks instead of fixing the roads? What a waste of our tax dollars!
