The Portsmouth Town Council voted Monday to finally remove an abandoned boat in Blue Bell Cove, reports The Sakonnet Times. 

The boat has been submerged in the Cove since Hurricane Irene, according to Patch archives. The owner has been fined, but has made no plans to remove the vessel.

The council voted 5-1, with Liz Pedro against, to hire Mac Marine at an estimated cost of $23,400 to remove the boat. The council will not go out to bid for this contract due to the emergency situation, reports The Sakonnet Times.
