1 RI Hospital Among Best In U.S., New Ranking Says
This hospital in Rhode Island received a high-performing grade in 10 categories, including heart attack, stroke, and hip replacements.
PROVIDENCE, RI — The Miriam Hospital is Providence is among the best in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-2025 Best Hospitals ranking released Tuesday.
For its 35th annual report, U.S. News evaluated more than 5,000 hospitals based on their performance across 30 medical and surgical services. The Miriam Hospital received a "high performing grade in the following categories:
- Hip replacements
- Knee replacements
- Colon cancer surgery
- Heart failure
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Kidney failure
- Prostate Cancer
- Pneumonia
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

To calculate the 2024-2025 Best Hospitals for the Honor Roll, specialty and region, U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance using a variety of measures. Data came from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations, and medical specialists. The Procedures & Conditions ratings are based entirely on objective patient care measures.
