The AMP Era Begins: Providence Civic Center Officially Renamed
"This building has a storied history in Providence, Rhode Island, and we're honored to add our name to it," Amica officials said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Dunk is dead. The Amica Mutual Pavilion is king. Long may it reign.
For the first time since 2001, the Providence Civic Center will be known by a new name, and, perhaps, also a new nickname.
Amica Mutual Insurance CEO Ted Shallcross introduced "The AMP" at a ceremony on Wednesday, officially marking the beginning of a new era for the home of the Providence College Friars and Providence Bruins.

Dunkin' Donuts Center signage was removed from the downtown Civic Center in late August. Multiple news reports at the time included statements from the company, confirming that the company will not renew naming rights at the area at One LaSalle Square.
"Dunkin’ has made the difficult decision to not renew its naming rights partnership with the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority. We are incredibly proud to have served as the namesake of The Dunk, as it has become affectionately known by hundreds of thousands of fans from across the country, for the last 21 years," the company said, in a statement to WJAR.
The naming rights agreement between the Convention Center Authority and Dunkin' came to an end on June 30, but the state agency controlling the Civic Center, Convention Center and Veterans Memorial Auditorium, allowed the name to remain until a new deal was finalized.
With signage up and the celebration at Amica underway, now all that's left is to see if "The AMP" will stick.
