- A Central Falls man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2019 Providence nightclub shooting. Hector Osorio pleaded no contest to charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and discharge of a firearm resulting in injury after shooting a 31-year-old man outside Jet Set Lounge on Eddy Street on June 23, 2019. Superior Court Justice Robert D. Krause sentenced Osorio to the Adult Correctional Institutions and imposed a 20-year suspended sentence with probation to be served after the 10-year sentence. - Providence police are stepping up ATV enforcement after having "backed off" previously. On Monday night, members of the City Council Finance Committee approved a resolution urging Mayor Jorge Elorza to crack down on the riders. The passage of the resolution comes nearly two months after its introduction by Council President John Igliozzi and Finance Chairwoman Jo-Ann Ryan. (The Providence Journal)
- Brown University is adopting some short-term COVID-19 restrictions as the school responds to a rise in coronavirus cases. (WJAR)
