PROVIDENCE, RI — David Duke Jr. is among the selective few that could be called a Rhode Island basketball legend. Even though he's just a few years removed from starring at Providence College, the Brooklyn Net has already planted himself in the "best from the state" conversation.

Over the weekend, Duke returned home to pay it back to local middle and high school students with the first David Duke Jr. basketball camp.

"It was surreal to see how much of an impact we were able to make in these kids lives over a weekend," Duke said.

"Thank you to the city of Providence for believing in a young kid from the 401," he continued.

Duke — who played sparingly for the Nets when the team was healthy, but had a few standout moments as a starter and major contributor during a COVID-19 outbreak during the middle of the year — spent some of his high school years at Classical High School, where the camp was held.

In addition to the local camp, Duke will stay in the Ocean State on Tuesday as a special guest at the All-State Rhode Island High School Sports Awards. He will provide a talk and Q&A session, and patrons can sign up for a VIP meet and greet as well.
