Drunken Fleeing Driver Struck Providence Police Officer: Cops
The driver also had a warrant out for his arrest, police said.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A drunken driver drove at and struck a Providence police officer and then led the law on a high speed chase before he was apprehended, police said.
Immanuel Tino, 26, was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday and charged with eluding law enforcement, high-speed pursuit, driving under the influence of liquor, refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving after license suspended for certain violations, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.
Tino was also arrested on a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on the original charge of driving under the influence , according to the release..

"This arrest was the result of motor vehicle pursuit that was initiated on Route 146 North at Charles Street, in the City of Providence, after Tino drove at and struck a Providence Police Officer, and subsequent motor vehicle stop in the Town of Lincoln," the release said.
The Providence police failed to respond to a message requesting additional information on the incident.

"Tino was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and turned over to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men's Intake Center," the state police media release said.
