Elder Exploitation Charge File Against Providence Man: Cops

The Providence man was arrested on a charge of conspiracy —​ exploitation of an elder, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was charged with exploiting an elder, police said.

Thomas O'Reilly, 28, was arrested Tuesday by the Rhode Island State Police Financial Crimes Unit and the Lincoln Barracks, police said.

O'Reilly, a resident of Manton Avenue, was charged with conspiracy — obtaining property by false pretenses and conspiracy — exploitation of an elder, according to police.

"Mr. O'Reilly was transported to State Police Headquarters, processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace where bail was set at $200,000 with surety, and turned over to officials at the Adult Correctional Institutions Men's Intake Center pending a morning arraignment in Third Division District Court," police said.

State police Maj. Kenneth M. Moriarty failed to respond to a request for further information on O'Reilly's case.
