Former Friar AJ Reeves Joins Hometown Celtics For Summer League
Reeves, the undrafted swingman from Providence College, agreed to a deal with his hometown team.

BOSTON, MA — Former Providence College swingman AJ Reeves stayed close to his native Boston for the duration of his college career. His first look at professional action will come even closer to home, after Reeves agreed to deal that lands him a summer league roster spot with the Celtics.
Reeves, who went undrafted, reached an agreement with the team over the July 4 weekend, according to multiple reports, including by JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors. The team confirmed the news on Tuesday.
Reeves hails from the Roxbury neighborhood. In an interview with Boston.com, Reeves described his feelings the moment he learned the Celtics had a spot for him.

"The emotion just flooded me," Reeves said. "I’m still excited right now. I can’t even speak."
Reeves worked out with the team during the draft process, and reportedly remained in the area for training during the draft process.

The Celtics will start the summer schedule on Saturday, and, so far, four games are on the docket in Las Vegas.
Reeves joins Justin Minaya as the only Celtics so far to have a confirmed roster spot on a summer league team. He will play for the Charlotte Hornets.
