Fugitive Wanted in California Nabbed By Rhode Island State Police: Cops

The Providence man was to be shipped back to California, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Rhode Island State Police say they captured a Providence man wanted in California.

Nathanel Lavoie, 42, was arrested by the state police Adult Correctional Institutions Investigations Unit on Wednesday, police said.

Lavoie, a resident of Grove Street, was a "Fugitive from Justice from the State of California," police said.

"Mr. Lavoie was arraigned in Third Division District Court, where he waived extradition proceedings and was remanded to the ACI pending his return to California," police said.

State police Maj. Kenneth M. Moriarty failed to respond to a request for further information on Lavoie's arrest.
