Girl Who Saved Mom's Life Honored At Boston Celtics Game

BOSTON, MA — An 11-year-old Providence girl was honored at a Boston Celtics game for saving her mother's life.

Sophia Pilderian found her mother disoriented one morning earlier this year, according to a media release.

Sophia's mother then suddenly collapsed, the release said.

"Without hesitation, Pilderian dialed 911 and followed the guidance of emergency dispatchers," the release said. "Drawing on CPR techniques she had previously seen in an online video, she began chest compressions and continued them steadily for several minutes until first responders arrived."

Sophia's actions likely meant the difference between life and death, according to the release.

"Her calm focus and quick response helped keep her mother alive long enough for paramedics to take over and provide the advanced care that ultimately saved her life," the release said.

Pilderian was recognized as a Hero Among Us during a Celtics’ home game against the Los Angeles Clippers last month.
