MA Man Charged With DUI After Providence Crash: Cops
The Massachusetts man appeared in court as a bail violator, police said.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Massachusetts man was charged with driving under the influence following a crash in Providence, police said.
Nelson Moreno Mendes Alves, 43, was arrested about 5 p.m. Sunday and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, refusal to submit to a chemical test and obstruction of an officer in execution of duty, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.
Mendes Alves, a resident of Attleboro, also was arrested on a Sixth District Court bench warrant charging him with failing to appear in court for a DUI case originating with the Pawtucket Police Department, according to the release.

Mendes Alves was arrested by troopers who responded to a crash on Route 146 in Providence, the release said.
Mendes Alves was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned and presented as a bail violator, and taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men's Intake Center, according to the release.
