Man Kills Estranged Wife, Self In Providence

The man fled to a nearby house then shot himself after Providence police surrounded the building.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Police say a man who shot and killed his estranged wife committed suicide after they surrounded the nearby house he had fled to. The 48-year-old woman, whose identity was not released, was shot around 3 p.m. Saturday in a relative's home on Charles Street near the DaVinci Center and Esek Hopkins School. Police have also not released the name of the shooter.

Police searched for the man for more than an hour after the shooting, according to GoLocalProv, which first reported this story. The Providence Police Special Response Unit searched the 400-block of Charles Street before locating the house he had fled to.
