MLB Draft: 4 With Rhode Island Ties Selected

One high-schooler and three college players will have a chance to make it to the show. Here's where they went.

RHODE ISLAND — The Major League Baseball draft was this week, and four players with connections to the Ocean State were selected.

Dominic Perachi, 320th pick, and Ben Brutti, 333rd pick, were the first of the bunch selected. Both were chosen in the 1th round.

Perachi, a left-handed pitcher who completed his junior year at Salve Regina this past year, will join the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system.

Brutti, the most recent Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year, was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds. He graduated from South Kingstown High School in 2022.

Tucker Flint, a Bishop Hendricken graduate, was taken 55 picks later in the 13th round by the Los Angeles Angels.

Ben Sears, an East Providence High School graduate, was taken by the Kansas City Royals at 415th overall in the 14th round.
