More Snow Inbound Tuesday After Weekend Storm Hit Hard

A modest 2-3 inches could add to what an unexpectedly strong Sunday storm dumped on Rhode Island.

At least a couple more inches of snow is expected to fall early Tuesday, adding to the growing piles that are likely to stick around throughout a cold week.

A quick-moving storm will approach from the west Tuesday morning before tapering off in the evening. The morning and afternoon commutes are expected to be messy.

Most of Rhode Island is forecast to get 2-3 inches, with 3-4 inches eyed in the northwestern part of the state. Block Island could see less than an inch.

Even those modest predictions may only add to the misery of some snow-battered parts of the state. Sunday's storm dropped between 5-11 inches.

The ground-bound snow could be sticking around for some time. Save for a brief time mid-week, temperatures might not climb above freezing until next week at the earliest.
