Peace Street Building Collapses Amid Providence Flooding: Police
Police and fire officials are also dealing with a collapsed building on Peace Street, though no one was injured. Here's what to know.
Update: Flooding has been cleared on I-95 at Thurbers Avenue, according to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence building collapsed on Peace Street as flooding overwhelmed roads and highways in parts of the city, including I-95, on Monday.
The Providence Police Department first announced that Hayward Street at Pearl Street was flooded, later providing an update that 215 Peace Street had collapsed. No one was inside at the time, and no one was injured, police said.

A heavy police and Fire Department presence was in the area, and several surrounding streets and intersections are blocked off.
NBC10 is also reporting that a building on Dexter and Waverly Street also collapsed.

Peace Street is far from the only one dealing with flood conditions, as police reported that Route. 95 North and South at Thurbers Avenue are flooded. Parts of Route 10, in addition to Route 95, are also closed.
"Please avoid all unnecessary travel. Multiple streets within the City are flooded," Providence EMA officials said.
These streets and intersections are also closed:
- Hartford Avenue and Heath Street
- Smith Street and Gentian Ave
- 1 Exchange St
- Pleasant Valley Parkway and Berlin Street
- 620 Huntington Ave
- 993 Manton Ave
- Valley Street and Eagle Street
- 1 Sabin Street
In addition to the flooding, video from multiple media outlets showed sections of Atwells Avenue damaged due to flood waters.
