- The Rhode Island SPCA will be hosting Paws in the Park on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Rose Larisa Park in East Providence. Activities will include a superhero-themed Canine Costume Contest, “Shop Local” Marketplace, and more. Proceeds will help support the RISPCA’s critical programs and services for the people and animals in our community. (Johnston Sun Rise)
- Advocates for the homeless are demanding more action from lawmakers in Providence. Dozens of tents have been erected on the grounds of the Statehouse to draw attention to the increasing problem. Advocates are encouraging state lawmakers to approve plans to create at least 500 new housing units. (WPRI.com)
