Pistol-Packing Providentian Popped: Police

The Providence man was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A wanted Providence man was picked up on a gun charge Wednesday, police said.

Juan Franquis, 23, was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force on a charge of license required for carrying a pistol, the state police said in a media release.

Franquis was also arrested on warrants charging him with failing to appear in court, the release said.

Franquis failed to appear for arraignments in possession of a stolen vehicle and large-capacity feeding devices prohibited cases, according to the release.

"Mr. Franquis was taken into custody without incident and turned over to members of the Providence Police Department on scene," the release said.
