Providence Accepting Nominees For MLK Hall Of Fame

Those inducted into the MLK Hall of Fame are civic leaders that support the legacy of King and embody his work here in Providence.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Providence city officials are accepting nominations for its 21st annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Those inducted into the MLK Hall of Fame are civic leaders who support the legacy of King and embody his work here in Providence.

"Providence is lucky to be the home of countless dedicated civic leaders who advocate on behalf of our community every single day," Mayor Brett Smiley said. "We encourage you to nominate your local leaders who embody Dr. King’s commitment to advancing equality and social justice. I am looking forward to giving recognition to those individuals that have helped Providence become known as a welcoming and inclusive city."

Nomination letters will be accepted until Dec. 20. Nominees must be a resident of Providence or have accomplished a significant amount of community work in the city. Letters should be no more than two pages long and specify how the nominee exemplifies the spirit of MLK's commitment to equity, civil rights and justice.
