Providence Casino Cheat Collared: Cops

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was charged with cheating a casino, police said.

Elijah P. Jones, 22, was charged with six counts of casino cheating — employee of a gaming facility who knowingly fails to collect, or attempts to fail to collect, a losing wager or pay, or attempt to pay, an amount greater on any wager than required under the rules of casino games, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

Jones, a resident of Laura Street, was arrested Thursday by the Gaming Enforcement Unit, the state police said.

Jones was processed at the Wickford Barracks, arraigned in Second District Court and released on $3,000 Personal Recognizance Bail., according to police.

State police Maj. Kenneth M. Moriarty failed to respond to a request for further information on Jones' arrest.
