Classical High School Alum Named ALCS MVP In Sweep Of Yankees
New England sports fans probably still hate the Astros, but Providence local Jeremy Peña is giving them something to root for.

HOUSTON, TX — On the one hand, Providence local Jeremy Peña is perhaps not the most loved local in Major League Baseball, given his affiliation with a Houston Astros franchise which, post-cheating allegations, is booed fervently in every stadium across the league, including at Fenway Park.
On the other hand, Peña did just help those Astros sweep the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series, garners himself ALCS MVP along the way. Perhaps Sox fans will give Peña a pass for the Astros affiliation.
Peña, a Providence local and 2015 graduate of Classical High School, was a major part in the sweep, going 6-18 in the series, including a three-run home run that tied the game in the third inning during Sunday's final victory over New York.
