Providence College Basketball Star To Enter NBA Draft

PROVIDENCE, RI — Devin Carter, a Providence College junior, Providence Friars guard, and the Big East player of the year, is ending his college career and heading to the NBA, Carter said on X Wednesday.

Carter filled the announcement with a slew of thank yous to his coaches, teammates, fans, and loved ones for their guidance, faith, and "unwavering love" during the first phase of his career, during which he averaged 19.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals and one block per game, according to ESPN.

It's a big part of the reason why Carter, as noted by the outlet, ranked 17 in the ESPN 100 among NBA draft prospects and decided to forgo his junior year to enter the 2024 NBA draft.

"This is not goodbye — it's just a new chapter in this incredible journey from God," Carter wrote. "I am thrilled about what lies ahead and am committed to making all of you proud as I take this next step."
