Providence Couple Caught Conspiring And Stealing More Than $1,500: Police

The man and woman surrendered at the Wickford Barracks, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence couple stole more than $1,500, police said.

Clarence Soares, 52, and Genoveva Dias, 44, who reside at the same Crandall Street address, were arrested Friday and charged with obtaining more than $1,500 under false pretenses, fraudulently obtaining more than $500 in assistance, conspiracy, and giving a false document to an agent, employee or public official, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

Soares and Dias surrendered at the state police Wickford Barracks, according to the release.

Soares was arrested at 10 a.m. and Dias was arrested at 1 p.m., the release said.
