Providence Identity Thief Jailed: Cops

The Providence man was locked up "pending an interview to determine (his) true identity," police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence identity thief was jailed, police said.

Eliezer Inostroza, 37, was arrested shortly before 4 p.m. Friday on charges of identity theft and providing false documents to a public official, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

"The arrest was the result of a barracks investigation, and (Inostroza) was located by the Providence Police Department," the release said.

"Inostroza was held at the Adult Correctional Institution — Men's Intake Center as a bail violator pending an interview to determine (his) true identity," the release said.

State police Lt. Col. Robert Creamer and the state police legal office failed to respond when asked for additional information on Inostroza's arrest.
