Providence Man Charged With 2 Hit-And-Run Crashes, Attack On Police Officer: Cops

The Providence man was taken to the hospital after he was arrested, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — State troopers nabbed a Providence man wanted in connection with a pair of hit-and-run crashes and an attack on an officer, police said.

Andrew King, 32, was arrested shortly after 5:30 p.m. Saturday on charges of failure to stop for an accident resulting in damage to an attended vehicle, driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, resisting arrest, assault of a police officer and other official, and simple Assault and/or battery.

"This arrest was the result of a follow-up investigation into two hit-and-run motor vehicle crashes and locating King near his residence," the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

King, a resident of Olneyville Square, was taken to Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence before he was "processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and held overnight pending arraignment/presentment as a probation violator," police said.

State police Capt. David Bassignani failed to respond to a request for further information on King's case.
