PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was sentenced Tuesday to a double life sentence for a 2022 fatal shooting outside a city nightclub.

Last April, Robert Komhlan, 38, was convicted of first-degree murder, discharging a firearm while in the commission of a crime of violence with death resulting, carrying a pistol without a license, and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited based on a prior conviction for a crime of violence.

During the trial, prosecutors proved that on April 1, 2022, Komhlan shot and killed Angelo Gomez outside of Wonderland Gentleman’s Club in Providence. An argument escalated between two local rival gangs inside the club when Komhlan pulled up in an SUV and opened fire, striking Gomez three times, prosecutors said.
