Providence Named In Top 10 Best Cities For Single Men

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Ocean State is one of the best in the country for single men, a new study finds. According to Lending Tree, Providence is the eighth-best cities in the world for those without a partner, just one spot below Boston at number seven.

According to the ranking, Madison, Wisconsin is the best city in the country for single men, based on health and safety information. Madison also tops the chart on the company's list of best cities for women, as well. The list looked at the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the country, evaluating them based on factors such as crime rates, the size of the dating pool, job prospects and more.

Rhode Island is squarely in the top 10 at number eight in the country, earning a total score of 62.7 out of 100. Here's how Providence ranked in each individual category.

• Demographics: 81.1
• Economics: 37.1
• Wellbeing: 67.3
• Culture and Entertainment: 56
• Safety: 71.7

Hartford, Connecticut, Albany, New York, Syracuse, New York and Rochester, New York round out the top five, while Stockton, California and Memphis, Tennessee came in at numbers 99 and 100, respectively.
