Providence Ward 2 City Council Election
A Democrat prevailed in the primary to face off against the Republican who was unopposed.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Providence City Council Ward 2 election is Tuesday.
Democrat Jill Davidson prevailed in the November primary to face off against Republican Axel Brito. Brito had no primary opponent.
On her campaign website, Davidson said a "healthy fiscal future for our city and our residents must be our first priority."

"Our city faces the fiscal challenge of an underfunded pension system, and the needs of aging infrastructure," she said. "Our families face rising rents, higher property taxes and skyrocketing cost of living. The City Council must advocate for fiscal transparency and long-term sustainability to ensure Providence’s future."

Davidson also said Providence's "schools, finances, and affordability face dire challenges from local obstacles and Trump’s relentless attacks from DC."

"After two decades of advocacy in Providence — bringing together broad coalitions to support our public schools, advance climate resilience and push for responsive government — I’m ready to bring my skills and experience to City Hall," she said.
Attempts to contact Brito were not successful.
