Providence Woman Stole More Than $10K: Cops
The Providence woman also charged with fraudulently obtaining more than $500 in assistance, police said.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence woman stole more than $10,000, police said.
Melissa Acevedo, 40, was arrested Thursday by the Rhode Island State Police Financial Crimes Unit, the state police said in a media release.
Acevedo was charged with obtaining more than $10,000 under false pretenses, fraudulently obtaining more than $500 in assistance, and giving false documents to an agent, employee or public Official, according to the release.

Acevedo surrendered at State Police Headquarters, where she was processed and arraigned, the release said.
