PROVIDENCE, RI — Narragansett Brewing Company in Providence will reportedly honor former U.S. President Jimmy Carter's impact on raft beer by creating a new brew in his honor.

The new beer will be on tap this weekend to honor Carter, who died Dec. 29 at age 100, after a long battle with cancer. Narragansett Brewing Company President Mark Hellendrung told WPRI 12 the new beer will add natural peanut butter flavoring to its award-winning porter, a nod to Carter's beginning as a peanut farmer.

In October 1978, Carter signed a bill legalizing brewing beer and wine at home, which many breweries across the country credit as the birth of the craft beer revolution.
