NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI — It's more valuable to keep stuff from some ex-partners than others. What we know after this week is that if you've ever dated Elon Musk it's time to start looking for auction houses.
This week, North Providence, Rhode Island, native Jennifer Gwynne brought in a total of $165,265 after she sold items like an old birthday card, photographs and even signed dollar bills. How did she get it all? Well, she was Musk's college girlfriend.
According to a story in the Boston Globe, Gwynne and Musk dated during their time at the University of Pennsylvania in the mid-1990s. The relationship ended when Musk graduated, moving to California.

Annotated coursework from Musk's time at Penn sold for over $7,700, and two one-dollar bills signed by Musk sold for thousands of dollars each.
As first pointed out by the Globe, Musk was clearly aware of the sale, as he changed his Twitter profile picture to one taken by Gwynne. The same photo sold for over $9,000 at auction.
As for what she'll do with the money, Gwynne told the Globe that some of it will be donated to an animal shelter in her local South Carolina community, while a chunk of it will also go toward her child's college fund and maybe a post-pandemic honeymoon.
