RI's 2nd Trader Joe's Location To Open Thursday In Providence

The South Main Street location is set to open doors for shoppers at 8 a.m. on Thursday, marking the grocery chain's second RI store.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island's second Trader Joe's location will open on South Main Street in Providence on Thursday morning.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting is scheduled for 7:55 a.m. at the 425 S. Main Street store, with doors opening for shoppers at 8 a.m.

The location boasts 9,408-square-feet of Trader Joe's products that those familiar with the location in Warwick, or locations across the country, are familiar with. Essentially, expect this new Trader Joe's to look and feel exactly like a Trader Joe's.

According to a report by ABC 6, the location plans to have 80 employees on staff.

In August, the Providence City Council answered questions about what parking for the location would look like given the nature of street parking on Wickenden and South Main Streets.

According to the council at the time, there will be 110 parking spaces for guests and employees. Sixty apartment units are also included in the building project, they said.
