PROVIDENCE, RI — Health food restaurant chain Saladworks will permanently close its two Rhode Island locations, with Thursday being their last day open.

The company last week announced the closures of both the Providence location on Fountain Street and the Warwick eatery on Bald Hill Road.

"We loved being part of the community for the past four years," a Saladworks spokesperson said. "We are grateful for the opportunities to meet guests and fellow small business owners. We found purpose in supporting local charities, school and hospital programs, and food banks."

In the closing announcement, Saladworks' management also encouraged its customers to support small businesses, especially in challenging economic times.

"It was a good fight, and we held out for as long as we can," a Saladworks spokesperson said. "We salute all small business owners out there who are showing up day in and day out! To everyone who has touched our lives, we will forever be grateful."
