Shooting Reported Outside Providence Courthouse: Witnesses
Johnson & Wales students in buildings near the Friendship and Dorrance street area were told to shelter in place.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A reported shooting near the Providence Courthouse prompted Johnson & Wales to ask students in buildings near the Friendship and Dorrance street area to shelter in place Thursday morning. The school has since told the students that suspects have fled and the shelter in place is lifted.
Lindsay Lague, Providence police spokeswoman, said over an e-mail message that the "incident is under investigation." No one was hurt.
"There is no victim," she said. " The call came in around 11:30" a.m. and police have not determined "how many shots were reported."

No one has been charged in connection with the shooting, she said, and the incident is still being investigated.
