Stop & Shop Closing 2 Rhode Island Stores Thursday
The company will close 32 stores across the Northeast, a move the chain announced in May.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Two Stop & Shop stores are expected to close by the end of Halloween night in Rhode Island.

The supermarket chain initially announced plans to close stores in May in an effort to "position the company for growth," and said it will offer jobs at other supermarket locations to workers whose stores will close.
Stop & Shop will also close five stores in Connecticut, 10 in New Jersey, seven in New York and seven in Massachusetts. The company said it will still operate more than 350 stores in the Northeast after these closures go into effect.
