- Providence legislator reverses course on a letter opposing a vaccine mandate. Democratic Rep. Ray Hull said he made a mistake joining 32 colleagues who asked the mayor to back off a COVID-19 vaccination mandate for Rhode Island healthcare workers. Thirty-three of the 75 lawmakers in the House of Representatives have signed the letter. (The Providence Journal)
- Governor Dan McKee and Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green address the teacher shortage on the first day of school in Providence. Many classes have been covered by substitutes, but 18 remaining classrooms will need the help of other staff. The state took control of Providence schools in 2019 after a report exposed a failing district. (WJAR)
- Trinity Rep will hold children's auditions for "A Christmas Carol" this Saturday. (The Westerly Sun)
