Wanted Texan Jailed In Rhode Island: Police

The fugitive assaulted a jail worker in Texas, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Texas fugitive was jailed in Rhode Island on Tuesday, police said.

Kevon Stevens, 27, of Sugarland was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police at the Sixth Division District Court about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, the state police said in a media release.

Stevens was arrested on a warrant charging him with failing to appear on court for a felony assault case, the release said.

Stevens was charged with assaulting a jail worker in Texas, according to the release.

Stevens was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by a justice of the peace and turned over to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men's Intake Center, the release said.
